An outstanding opportunity now exists for an experienced insurance professional to join the Asia Division of a leading Australian general insurer. Reporting to the Head of Strategy and Business Development, the position is responsible for leading this iconic insurer’s market entry into Indonesia, culminating in an acquisition or joint venture.



Working with senior leadership on the refinement and execution of the Group’s market entry strategy for Indonesia, the role will carry-out a range of in-market research, relationship-building and partner-selection activities.



The successful candidate will become the Group’s expert in the Indonesian general insurance market, and prepare papers and presentations on market dynamics and industry players. Actively developing contacts and enhancing relationships with key stakeholders in the non life insurance industry, this position will promote the Group and grow our reputation in the market.

It is anticipated the role will also participate in due diligence and valuation activities, and in transaction execution and related activities.



To be considered, candidates will have:

* Broad knowledge across the range of general insurance disciplines (underwriting, product, distribution, actuarial, claims etc)
* Strong knowledge of general insurance financials
* Experience operating at a senior management level, most likely as part of a business unit leadership team
* Track record of achieving outcomes through influencing senior levels of an organisation
* Proven track record in initiating and developing external business / commercial relationships with a range of senior stakeholders
* Sound knowledge of practices relating to financial and risk management as practiced in mature insurance markets
* Microsoft Office skills



Also highly regarded will be:

* Tertiary qualifications in a business-related field and/or general insurance qualifications
* Depth of experience in a functional general insurance area, (e.g. distribution, underwriting, claims, actuarial, finance etc)
* Sound knowledge of national and business culture in Indonesia
* Knowledge of bancassurance and intermediated distribution
* An Asian language, preferably Indonesia Bahasa
