Vacancy Announcement–Regional Coordinator for Southeast Asia
The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), one of 15 Centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), generates science-based knowledge about the complex role that trees play in agricultural landscapes, and uses its research to ensure that policies and practices benefit the poor and the environment.
Our vision is an 'agroforestry transformation' in the developing world–a massive increase in the use of trees on landscapes by smallholder rural households to ensure security in food, nutrition, income, health, shelter and energy, and a regenerated environment.
Job Requirement/Persyaratan Lowongan Kerja
We are looking for a Regional Coordinator to lead our work in Southeast Asia. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding scientist and a superb manager with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in leading scientific teams, mobilizing resources, building partnerships and conducting research. The Regional Coordinator, to be stationed in Bogor Indonesia, will report to the Deputy Director General, and will supervise a staff of 110 located in 5 countries. The candidate will have responsibilities for planning, partnerships, resource mobilisation, implementation and reporting, and managerial oversight. TheRegional Coordinator will also participate in global research projects that will contribute to the scientific agenda of the Centre.
Headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, the World Agroforerestry Centre (ICRAF) conducts research in 23 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. In Southeast Asia, our work is focused onimproved land-use practices that integrate productive trees into agroforestry landscapes, providing important environmental services. Our programmes in the region span from the island nations of Indonesia and the Philippines, to the montane South Eastern Asian mainland including Thailand, Laos and Vietnam, and the critical watersheds of South Western China.
Requirements:
* PhD in Agriculture, Forestry or Natural Resources Management
* A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience;
* Demonstrated experience managing a multicultural team of scientists;
* Excellent interpersonal skills;
* A demonstrated track record of scientific publications
* Demonstrable oral and written communication skills
* Fluency in English and proficiency in other international languages is desirable.
* Proficiency in ICT
The suitable candidate will have outstanding leadership, managerial, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a flair for conceptualisation and planning. Strong team-building, networking and capacity-building qualities are vital to this post. Alsocritical - the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
Terms and Conditions:
